In all honesty, this cruise didn't really measure up to the cruise we took 2 years ago. There were several factors that led us to this conclusion such as an older and smaller ship, not very friendly staff, very rough seas, etc, but all in all we had a great time as a family. The girls were THRILLED to go to Mexico and experience the local "culture" (if you can call it that..it was very tourist-y) and Andy and I were just thrilled to get away from work and order room service every night. We weren't AS impressed with these ports of call, but again we were on vacation so that's all that mattered.
Some highlights include: riding the double decker bus around Progresso, the fantastic food in the dining room every night, pina coladas on the beach in Cozumel, the beautiful views of the Gulf (when it wasn't rocking the boat from side to side), the wonderful entertainment which included singing, dancing, magic shows, etc. Kaycee actually got picked to go up on stage and help the magician perform the famous "floating table" trick. The girls loved going to Camp Carnival each day (and Andy and I enjoyed the break). The had all kinds of activities for the girls ranging from scavenger hunts to sand art to talent shows.
Other than the rough seas which prohibited a lot of fun activities, we had a great time. We are already planning our next cruise. We have found that this will be the be our preferred method of vacationing for a while. We get to see great places and it's all inclusive- food, entertainment, transportation, etc. We learn something new each time we go. We have a list of do's and don'ts for our next trip. :) For those of you thinking of cruising in the future I have two suggestions: 1. Walkie-Talkies and 2. Pay the extra to get a room mid ship, higher up. We have many more ideas and suggestions so just ask!
